Coventry gas safety supplier to create new jobs after acquiring Swiss cleanroom system manufacturer
A Coventry-based international supplier of gas safety and control equipment is set to reach new markets and take on new staff after acquiring a cleanroom system manufacturer from Switzerland.
Spectron Gas Control Systems Ltd, based at Herald Court at the University of Warwick Science Park on Sir William Lyons Road, has bought Swiss firm H.Lüdi + Co. AG which installs open space laboratory solutions for its clients, including appliances to control energy, airflow and gas transmission in laboratories and cleanrooms.
Spectron, a multinational firm headquartered in Germany (Langen), supplies a wide range of equipment for gas systems in many different industries – from a simple pressure regulator on a gas source right the way through to complete gas supply solutions used in the semiconductor manufacturing and research sector.
After five years of excellent performance, Spectron considered making an acquisition to improve the service it could provide to its customers.
Stephen Sale, UK Manager at Spectron, said: “It was realised that a lot of our customers who were on the smaller side were often in the market for laboratory and cleanroom installation as well as gas safety equipment in general.
“Startups in the many differing sectors often need sterile environments to work in, but are not easily able to get their first cleanroom set up. H.Ludi offer a flexible office, laboratory and cleanroom systems that can grow with the company, so reduces the high up-front costs.
“Our acquisition of H.Lüdi also means we will be able to offer this service to our customers without them having to look elsewhere, and adds an extra string to our bow.”
Spectron is set to refurbish its own office at Herald Court to accommodate its new cleanroom to show prospective clients, and will look to take on around five new members of staff as a result.
“We didn’t want to leave our base at the Science Park – we’ve been here in some form since 1988 and have made fantastic connections in that time,” Stephen added.
“The Science Park has ensured that refurbishing our existing office would be a viable option and have made the process smooth.
“We’re hopeful the refurbishment will be complete by Summer next year, and we’re really looking forward to starting this new chapter at Spectron.”
Victoria Lynch, Head of Commercial at the University of Warwick Science Park, added: “It’s great news that Spectron has diversified its business by acquiring H.Lüdi, and of course, it’s also great that the team will stay at Herald Court.
“We always try to make it as easy as possible for our tenants when they achieve success like this, either by helping them expand their office space within the Science Park or assisting with refurbishments.
“We’re excited to see Spectron’s offices once the refurbishment is complete, and we hope Spectron will be able to continue their recent success as a result.”
