New University Station construction project: Supply Chain Opportunities

BCRRE along with the Rail Alliance, Digi-Rail and GBSLEP Growth Hub are delighted to announce an additional Stay Connected event in conjunction with Volker Fitzpatrick Ltd who are the lead contractor for the new station at the University of Birmingham looking to secure West Midlands based suppliers.

This station was originally designed in 1970's for 500, 000 passenger per day and now with the growth of the Queen Elizabeth hospital the University passenger numbers has risen massively. With the Commonwealth Games less than 500 days away this is a critical station our students, athletes accommodation, access to training facilities along with attracting visitors from across the globe to the gaming activities.

Volker Fitzpatrick is one of the leading engineering and construction companies in the UK and provide specialist building, civil engineering and rail expertise to a range of markets to provide a truly integrated service to clients. They possess proven experience and deliver successful projects in a wide range of industries, including commercial, industrial, education, rail infrastructure and depots, airports, waste and energy.

Volker Fitzpatrick will outline the station plans and timescales along with their quest to secure local West Midlands suppliers for a range of products including:

  • Fit Out Contractors
  • Fencing Contractors
  • Landscaping Contractors (Both hard & soft, so will include station furniture, seating / canopies etc.)
  • Labour providers
  • Wayfinding Signage
  • Surfacing Contractors
  • Along with updates on other station opportunities.
