Coventry-based hire company feeling the love after 'passionate' award success

A Coventry-based hire and access company is feeling the love after industry peers voted for the firm to win a particularly passionate award for its high-quality service.

Clements Plant & Access Hire, based on Torrington Avenue, won the National Passionate Hirer of the Year award at the recent Executive Hire Show awards.

The company hires and repairs construction equipment, tools, forklifts and aerial work platforms across the Midlands to clients in various sectors of industry, and also offers IPAF (Aerial Platform) operator training.

The awards, held at the Coventry Building Society Arena, are voted on by fellow companies in the hire and access industry.

And Clements won the pick of the awards thanks in part to its innovative ‘Hire Hub’ system, which enables them to manage their fleet of vehicles in a much more intuitive way, benefiting both Clements and their clients alike.

In a statement, the judges said: “The passion for hire and customer service resonates throughout the company. The balance of experience from the workshop to the hire team is a breath of fresh air.

“The company not only does everything that is required, we were also really impressed with their unique ‘Hire Hub’ system they have created, which helps to manage the fleet and keeps everyone up to date. We can only take our hats off to them.”

Founded in 1965, Clements has been under the ownership of Chairman Jim Longstaff and managing director Adrian Hutchinson since 2007 operating from its Torrington Avenue base.

Jim said: “The judges saw that we stood out from hundreds of fellow Hire Companies for our service, knowledge, attention to detail and customer care and I am humbled by this award as it is judged by fellow hirers in the UK.

“We are not the biggest and have no aspirations to be so, but I’m humbled to have a fantastic team who are dedicated and focussed on customer service.

“We are proud that we have an age range from 16 to our Operations Director Paul Dixon at 64, who has 48 years of service with the company, and we’re delighted to be investing in our sixth apprentice very soon.”

Following this success, Clements is looking to grow its business during the rest of 2022 as demand post-COVID has increased.

Adrian added: “We have investment plans already underway for approaching £1m of new equipment and vehicles in 2022. There is plenty of demand out there now that COVID restrictions have eased, so we’re looking to expand our fleet and help the construction sector flourish.”
