Boutique hotel toasts new RSC production with Much Ado About Nothing themed-cocktail
A boutique hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon has launched a cocktail inspired by a Shakespeare villain in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s brand-new production.
The ‘Don John’ is the latest addition to the cocktail menu at The Arden Hotel’s No.44 waterfront brasserie and Club Bar to coincide with the run of Much Ado About Nothing.
The dark orange alcoholic drink is a mix of sloe gin, lemon, sugar, aromatic tonic water and fresh rosemary has been named after one of the play’s central characters – the illegitimate brother of the Prince of Aragon, Don Pedro, who comes up with a harmful plot to ruin the reputation of bride-to-be Hero, the night before her wedding.
Josefine Blomqvist, general manager of The Arden Hotel, one of the Eden Hotel Collection, said: “We are very excited that Shakespeare is back at the RSC this month now the theatre has reopened.
“This witty comedy of matchmaking and manipulation with devious plots is the perfect way to celebrate the joy of live theatre.
“You will have to come and see the show to find out more about Don John – and then nip across the road for a Don John cocktail!
“And for any theatre-lovers not wishing to travel after an evening show or wanting to make the most of a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon we have an RSC theatre package offering overnight accommodation, two A-class tickets, pre-theatre dinner and breakfast throughout February.”
This new futuristic production of one of Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedies runs from Friday February 4 until Saturday March 12 - coinciding with both Valentine’s Day and February half term.
