1,000 new jobs to be showcased at Ricoh Arena
More than 1,000 jobs will be showcased to jobseekers in the region when the UK’s leading jobs fair comes to Coventry.
National, regional and local organisations will be showcasing employment opportunities when the Coventry Jobs Fair comes to Ricoh Arena on Wednesday 15 September from 10am to 1pm.
Vacancies available range from traineeships and apprenticeships through to entry level and up to mid-level management – with an importance placed on supporting individuals to find work who have found themselves unemployed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Over 1,000 people are expected to be in attendance on the day to speak with more than 30 exhibitors from a wide range of sectors.
Organisations already confirmed to be in attendance are West Midlands Police, the West Midland Combined Authority, Staffing Match, Caremark and the Carers Trust.
It will mark the second time the Coventry Jobs Fair has been held at the Ricoh Arena, which will be known as the Coventry Building Society Arena from this summer.
It was set to be held three times in 2020 but organisers were forced to cancel the event due to coronavirus.
The fair is now in its eighth year and has seen significant growth year-on-year, more than doubling the visitor numbers it received five years ago.
The organisers of Coventry Jobs Fair hold more than 140 events a year in 60 locations across the UK and say the event has a more important role now to play than ever before as a result of the economic pressures brough on the job market by Covid-19.
Sean Heppinstall, Commercial Director at The Jobs Fair, said: “Our main goal with our events across the country this year is to get Britain working – and that’s no different with our second outing at Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
“The Coventry Jobs Fair will present an ideal opportunity for jobseekers to speak directly to employers about their industry, what working for them entails and ask all of the key questions before applying for a role.
“There will be thousands of people in Coventry who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic and we hope this event will provide a platform to get some of those individuals back into employment.
“We’re expecting the key sectors this year to be in hospitality and retail, as businesses and organisations in those areas look to bounce back from an incredibly difficult 18 months.
“Healthcare will also be at the forefront of many job-seekers minds after seeing the impact key workers in hospitals and care organisations have had during the pandemic.”
Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Ricoh Arena, added: “It’s crucially important that we look to help as many people back into employment as we can across the region, and by hosting the Coventry Jobs Fair at Ricoh Arena we are helping to support that drive.
“It was a hugely successful first jobs fair event in 2020 and we were expecting even more attendees for the three scheduled events later in the year.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the organisers to facilitate the continued growth of the event.”
